Hello,

this fly is from july from the austrian alps. A muscidae? Can perhaps something more be said? Length: estimated 7mm.

Thanks,
Michael

Female Phaonia. I can't see the chaetotaxy, so I stop at genus name.

Hello Stephane,

thanks for your answer. What bristles have to be seen to say more?

For Phaonia, it is important to know (at least) :
- presutural acrostichal or no ?
- 3 or 4 postsutural dorsocentral ?
- prealar long or short ?
- and legs chaetotaxy too (t1 with posterior setae or not, t2 with 1 or 2 rows of post. setae ?).

Hello Stephane,

here is another picture, where the bristles are better to see - I think. Is now something possible? I can't see single bristles - for me it's all mixed up.

It is a female Phaonia meigeini (with 95 % confidence).
