Hi,

This was under a fallen leaf under my Horse Chestnut tree. Approx. 2.5mm long, two spikes both ends, it has been suggested it's a Lonchoptera larva. Can anyone say which it might be, I have taken pics of a few Lonchoptera this year yet to confirm ID.

Taken on 12th December 2009 near Lincoln UK. One pic only, but I might be able to find it again.

Thank you atylotus!

I wonder if it is acceptable to put this in the Gallery as Lonchopteridae larva, it might be useful.Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
