Hi,

this small fly was in my indet Heleomyzidae unit. Is this Heleomyzidae at all ? September 29.2008 Helsinki, Finland.

Possibly, although the wings look a little light. You'll need to relax it and pull out the genitalia to be sure, although I think yours is a female? Sad

I ended to griseola by following the Rozkosnys key:

- Mesopleuron at most with several hairs along posterior margin
- Mid frontal stripe short
- Mesopleuron with hairs along posterior margin
- Whitish band along costal margin of wing absent
- Arista plumose but the hairs short
- Fore tibia and femur darkened
- Cross-veins mostly infuscated

There are more details in the key but these are the main ones. I have not seen this species before, so I might be wrong too. These Pherbellias are sometimens very tricky for me Frown
