Seen on 2 November in woodland in England. Is it possible to suggest an ID? Many thanks

Looks like a Phryxe sp. to me but (as always) it would be nice to see other angles ![]() Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

Many thanks Chris. For future reference, are there particular features it would be useful to photograph to aid identification of tachinids? Dave |

Well, it depends on the genus ... but whichever angle you have then the one we need will be the one you were going for just before it flew off! ![]() Phryxe are a bit anonymous-looking but I'd hope to see erect apical scutellar bristles and if you wanted a species ID then you'd have to show the head from the side and be a bit lucky! ![]() ![]() Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
