Hello all, I'm new to the site, it looks to be a fascinating and great site :-) I took the attached pic earlier in the year, these flies were in good numbers under trees in our garden. They seemed to have there own shaft of sunlight, if an interloper entered theire was quite a dogfight until one left the shaft. But as a newbie I don't know what they are ? Hello. The behaviour sounds like Fannia sp. You would have a better chance of getting an expert opinion (as distinct from my opinion) if you tell us where it was photographed. A grand picture. John |
