Is this 10-12 mm fly a female Trixa caerulescens/alpina? I had a male caerulescens at same place same day. Thanks for your replies Chris and Theo. When looking on the leaf it is sitting on my memory seems to be wrong. It must be smaller than 10 mm. Perhaps 6-7 mm. Kurt Holmqvist |

The dusting pattern would fit Medina (though I never seem to see them alive) but the original size put me off ... 6-7mm sounds a bit better for Medina ![]() Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
