Is this 10-12 mm fly a female Trixa caerulescens/alpina?
I had a male caerulescens at same place same day. Thread from 1 november

I don't think so - the head is too big, relative to the body Smile I am sure someone else will have a name for it though Smile

Thanks for your replies Chris and Theo.

When looking on the leaf it is sitting on my memory seems to be wrong. It must be smaller than 10 mm. Perhaps 6-7 mm.

The dusting pattern would fit Medina (though I never seem to see them alive) but the original size put me off ... 6-7mm sounds a bit better for Medina Smile
