Hello to all!
Who knows this little hoverfly, about 6-8mm long or so, sitting on my travelmate's finger here.

15.8.09, Ecuador, Prov. Napo, near Misahuallí, about 400m asl.

I agree with Martin!
This is also a very large genus (> 300 described species), badly in need of through revision.
