It looks a little like a Limnophora, but I've never seen a male Limnophora with eyes that close together. What can it be? Any ideas?

Size: ~5-6mm
Date: 12 September 2009
Location: On wooden railing around a pond (Helsingborg, Sweden)

Thanks!

Limnophora divided into 2 subgenus:
males with wide frons - s/g Calliophrys
males with narrow frons (and without reclinate orbitals) - s/g Limnophora s.s.
So, this is more tipycal Linmophora than your previous Limnophoras Grin
Probably maculosa...

Thanks Nikita.
Up til now I had only seen wide fronsed ones (L. tigrina, L. triangula). Very interesting to hear about the subgenuses.

I'll be back with another probable Limnophora soon Smile

Then I can safely say I haven't seen a male tigrina Grin
Thanks Nikita. I'm learning a lot here.
