I am very much a beginner with identifying flies. This one reminds me of photos I have seen of flies in the family Sarcophagidae. But then again, it also looks like images of Tachinid flies. ![]() The fly landed on my hand and was very insistant about lapping up sweat. I took his picture with one hand, a difficult feat with a long heavy lens on! Any guidance with ID appreciated. --Stephen Stephen Cresswell www.americaninsects.net |

I would say this is a tachinid, possibly genus Phorocera.

I'm with Chris on this one, the general slim body shap and large pulvilli suggest a Sarcophagid. |

I can see what Daniel is meaning but I don't see hairy eyes ... but, as this is from USA, it might be a tachinid
