I'm sure that it es a female :-) and she had a wonderful "gloss" in the soft sunshine

location: Switerland, near Lake Zurich, 412 müM, on my balcony
date: 06.10.09, today
size: not big, not small, about 8 mm

She was very busy . . . :-)

Can anybody please help with the ID for this future mama?
Best Regards and Thanks a lot, Brigitte

Maybe good if you add a few pics of females to the Syrphidae gallery? Or all of them? Very nice pics... I am jealous of your skills, really!

Hi Andre, thank you - that means a lot to me!

the syrphidaes are all coming on my balcony, last days a lot of new one - I have just to give a look from time to time. It was never as easy then in the last few days. But all the time learning and working to emend the quality of the pics. Tomorrow we should have 24 °C - Syrphidae-weather !
But it's still hard to find the right ID :-((

Be happy that you know so much !! Wink

I'll try to but the pics into the gallery, no experience . . .thanks again!
Best Regards, Brigitte
