Empis pennipes?

Empis pennipes? I'm not shure, I saw many pictures of E. pennipes and I don't know if there are simular flys? And I don't have the right literature..

I cannot see all the details but I'd say that the mouthparts are not long enough. Neither can I really see what it's size is. If you still have it and are willing to send it to me, I can have a look at the actual specimen.

Hi,

the yellow line in the background is 1 cm, but it is not fully shown. The fly itself is around 50mm long.

This should be E. aestiva Lw., it is common in Oostende as I have seen.

It IS Empis aestiva. It was the most common empid species of in the two Malaise trap samples I examined. The most common hybotid in the two samples was Platypalpus albiseta. In all, 10 species of Empididae and 17 species of Hybotidae were found.
