Can anyone identify this large & impressive tachinid? Several at Cors Fochno (Borth Bog), Ceredigion, Wales. 7.9.09.

Habitat is a large acid peat bog.

Hi,

Might be my imagination, but the eyes look hairy? If so, then E. grandis could be an option. Habitat would fit but the flight time too late...

Exorista anyways, but I wouldn't give 100% determination based on these photos, sorry.
