I found this in the same place as last week's, which was identified here as Paracraspedothrix montivaga. This is slightly larger (3.5-4mm against 3mm) and has some obvious differences, but I wondered if this might be the female and last week's the male?

The hairs around the wing margin have caught the light in this one. Could this link up with the generic name (kraspedon = margin, thrix = hair)?

It does look quite convincing, with the dusting bands and very scooped-out, concave face.

Thanks Chris. I found I also had another pic with a better view of the abdomen: in high res it also confirms that the most apical scutellar bristles do not cross (they are more or less parallel). I can't tell the colour of the hairs behind the head though.
