I found these on sycamore/plane tree. Male and female? Over 5 mm.

Looks like it has a subscutellum, in the second photo ... which would suggest Tachinidae

Chris, you are looking at the scutellum. It is a Phyto or possibly an aberrant Stevenia. The second pic shows the Rhinophorid-calyptra nicely Theo |

Ahh, wow - it has a rather nicely developed subscutellum - more than I am used to from the rhinos over here But I don't get to see many rhinophorids in the UK at all - except R.lepida.
