This (beautifully photographed, but slightly out of focus) 5mm wasp was attracted along with various flies to the smell  of Scallops in a white plastic sack in the garden. Is it ID'able.

I envy You  If I wanted freshly collected scallops in my garden I'd have to travel 800 kms to Croatia and come back  'Course they wouldn't be fresh any more The mandibles are exodont, I think, so Alysiinae is possible. And that woulod mean too many genera to go further. Regards, Walter |

Hi Walter My son-in-law has 2 Scallop Boats...catches about 5-6000 a day between them. He always gives us some, but I don't like them. Maybe Camille and Friends will come up with something, if not thanks for the input. Regards Roger |

Beautifully photographed, indeed  , with beautiful exodont mandibles.I would have said Braconidae, Alysiinae too, but I'm not Camille and I won't go further. 1. Of course  .2. No answer to that point about Camille or yourself, but I'll keep it mind.. ...kids might be reading this stuff. 3. You never had Coquille St. Jacques... 4. You mean I'm giving out free English lessons. Better to learn a really useful language like we speak up here..eg. "Fu mony sed du hed du" is a good place to start. Regards Roger |

This was sent off to Kees van Achterberg via Jan Willem who says it is Alysia manducator Alysiinae. Thanks to all involved in this thread, and Camille for suggest KvA to ID a Braconid Wasp in another post which led to this determination. Regards Roger |
