I have been trying to find the name of this Tachinidae. But I don't think this picture is good enough to find it. 30-07-2006, La Fontouret, Indre, France. Tjitske Lubach attached the following image: ![]() [192.76Kb] Edited by Tjitske Lubach on 30-01-2011 16:41 Tjitske Lubach |

Another possibility would be Peleteria.

Yes, I'd say it looks more like Peleteria because the hairy eys of Linnaemya would normally be quite visible. A head shot would tell us more ![]() Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

Thanks anyhow for your reactions. It will be undecided then. Can I say it is Peleteria spec. or is that not correct? Tjitske Lubach |

As for Chris, my choice goes to Peleteria. It could thus be Peleteria varia. Only guessing...

Depends what weight the record has really ... if you just want a name on a photo then "Peleteria varia (probably)" would be fine ... but if you wanted to send the record in to a recording scheme then I would say - don't ![]() This is mainly because any name on a photo like this is really only a guess and that's fine just for your own personal use but it is way too inexact for real recording ![]() Edited by ChrisR on 05-09-2009 22:09 Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
