Hi forum members, I found two of these rather nice Leucophenga flying about a dead Acer pseudoplatanus tree. Size about 5 mm. Location, Shropshire, UK August 2009. Any suggestions for genus and possible species? conopid attached the following image: ![]() [128.59Kb] Nigel Jones, Shrewsbury, United Kingdom |

Thanks Paul, I keyed it as such, but the spots are so joined up that I could not convince myself it was L maculata. Nigel Jones, Shrewsbury, United Kingdom |

I have to admit that I never saw specimens of this species in which the spots are joined to such an extent, but this is known to happen in some specimens.
