Fotos: CH, St. Gallen, 21.8.09. An Argiope bruennichi (wasp spider) made the vertical orb web and caught a big diptera and made a silk-basket. After some minutes, about 10 Certopogonidae bite in the insect. Some of them hade a big drip in front of the mouth. Does somebody know the spec. and the meaning of the drip?

Where we would expect them: Desmometopa of the Milichiidae. So, not quite Ceratopogonidae...
