Difficult case, but my guess would be Phaonia palpata, a male.

Is there anything that is out of view that would make ID certain? This guy won't go anywhere. It's still on my desk. Hyperbolizer |

I use to find this species : 3 post dc, legs black with yellow tibiae, rather slender abdomen for a Phaonia, and I think I can see, not presutural strong acrostichals, but elongate hair like this species often have. If you can confirm this later point (or provide a dorsal view) as the presence of a posterior seta on fore tibia I would be pretty confident.

Sorry for being stupid ![]() Acrostichals visible here, right? Don't know if they are presutural though. cyprinoid attached the following image: ![]() [129.86Kb] Hyperbolizer |

They are visible and like I hoped, and the fore tibia's got a p. seta. Thanks, it is quite consistent with P. palpata. ![]() Stephane. |
