Hi, I believe I have never seen before this kind of Tabanidae. (Or just can't remember) July 14.2009 Loviisa, Finland.

Very nice specimen. I was out in a bog earlier this week chasing similar flies. Eyes in life were a beautiful pale green, turned brown within minutes of dying.
This is Atylotus sp., guessing A. fulvus but wait for . . . . . (you know who).

Thank's Tony Smile Very nice fly indeed. We should have four Atylotus to make a choice and so far I had none. What ever it is, it will be a new one for me Smile Let's just wait (yes, I know who .....)

I am not Theo :-) But you have no other such golden (or yellow) Atylotus in Scandinavia. So I vote also for A. fulvus :-) Libor

Yes it is, the thrid antennal segment is very short and broad, implying fulvus indeed.
