3 july 2009 Dwarsgracht (Netherlands)

We see here a Hydrotaea ignava whit ...i think..Poecilochirus sp.
We can see them hanging on to the fly whit there proboscis, so they are not using the fly for transportation, but as parasite, sucking the fly for food....?

(pict 2 is a drawing of the Poecilochirus..)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
