Sitting on the fence in my garden this evening, what kind of midge is this?? Size <1mm max.

Chironomidae, female. Probably some Criocotopus female.

Thanks Gabor...got 1 on my "Famous List" which is C,pulchripes but I doubt if I can call it that. Chironomidae will do fine....unless someone knows better. Regards Roger |
