Today from un-vegetated shingle, Rye Harbour East Sussex. I posted something similar last year which Theo thought was G. anthracina. I can't see any reason why this should be anything different but would be happier with others comments!

Hi, Either that or then Medina sp. G. anthracina has plumose arista as an easy feature to spot. Unfortunately, difficult to say from this picture. The costal spine looks too developed to be Medina, but I'm unsure of this feature, should check my specimens. Jaakko |

The 'Medina'-dusting along the thoracic suture seems to be genuinely missing, so I'd go for Gastrolepta as well. Theo |

Thanks Theo and Jaako. This seems to be very common at the moment and I have managed to bag a few specimens since my initial entry so will update this post when I know more. |

a lateral shot of the head would settle it instantly. Theo |
