hi flyforum,

Yesterday I found a small Psychodidae(?) on a wooden bridge, near water.
This Psychodidae isn't hairy like other..
Is it Psychodidae?

It's got some typical patterns on the wings..
Very long hindlegs!, obviously..

Hi, this is a Chironomid female. Psychodids are fully covered with big fur.

NW European Psychodidae are 'furry', outside that area it may be another matter. Phlebotominae may be hairy, but not necessarily furry, for example.

Some Sycorax species have been taken in Northern Europe; they are not especially hairy.
