Hello!

This 10-12 mm fly was hovering around a tree trunk at the forest yesterday (northwest Germany). It looks like a Caliprobola speciosa male without abdomen pattern (?).

Perhaps because it's a Brachypalpus ?

That was my next guess. But with these orange wings and so rather slender??? I had Brachypalpus laphriformis here several times, but they looked quite different.

Thanks! Yes, I know, but all Brachypalpus males i found, yet, still were more "robust" than this one.
