Hi,
I have a specimen of Tanyptera, but no key or descriptions of species. Can anyone advise how to separate the two species T atrata and T nigricornis?

(and I quote): Coxae and trochanters black; antennae black; male abd. tergites 2 + 3 reddish with continuous black median line = nigricornis. Otherwise it's atrata (obviously).

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
