Four years ago I posted a photo of an Anthomyiidae, that was identified by Michael Ackland as probably Anthomyia procellaris. The quality of the photo was quite poor.
Now I have better pictures of what would be the same species. So I repeat my question; what Anthomyiidae do we encounter in quite big numbers at the Wadden Sea island of Griend

I would see Anthomyia sp. for sure.
Is it A.pluvialis or A. procellaris...?
I still get confused with the post sutural lateral spot.
It seems that in both species its possible that the spot confluent with the black spot above wing base.
And in that case i don't see the differents anymore between those two species.
Maybe Stephane / Nikita / Michael can give light in the darkness about the spots..Shock

Hi Joke,

I'm afraid the species are very difficult to separate, especially from photo. At least, that is the impression I get after having made a tour on the internet. So probably I will have to do with putting it away as Anthomyia cf. procellaris.
