Hi,

Sorry for the very short DOF but I tried to make it artistic!
Do you have any idea of the family of those bugs? Tipulidae (killed) and empididae (killer)?

Cheers!

Hi,
The killer is Empis (Xanthempis) stercorea Linné, 1761.

Regards,

Igor

The killer is Empis, I think subgenus Xanthempis, prey can't be Tipulid, thos are much bigger. These Empidids are preadators, often they present a gift to females - also a killed fly.

Thanks so much, guys.

I have a doubt on Empis (Xanthempis) stercorea, as this bug has only one black stripe on the back.
stercorea has 3.
Wouldn't it be "scutellata"?

E. stercorea has one stripe only and so has E. aemula, but I agree with igor on stercorea.

Thank you Paul, you save me! I have seen many inconsistencies on internet so I needed to be sure!

Have a good day!
