This image was taken last weekend on the Gulf of Suez. I was attracted by the odd behaviour of these diptera but only realised they were in the clutches of a spider when I saw the photo on computer. I don't know the spider either so will do a double post.

Unfortunately the flies don't let to see the ID characters.

It is likely to be one of the crab spiders (Thomisidae), but I don't know which species occur in your area.
