I found this fly today in a wooded area along the river Linge at Heukelum, Netherlands. It was appr. 10-12 mm long. I guess it is another Ernestia puparum, or do I have something else here?

Sorry, I misjudged this one. The bands of pruinescense are broken in the middle of the tergites. so it is a female E. rudis. Which is connected with Pinus, which I don't expect near the Linge (??) Theo |

Well, that's even better, because E. rudis is a new species for me The area where I found it is adjacent to the garden of an old castle, so it's possible that there are some Pinus in this garden. http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |
