I found this fly two days ago (May 3rd, 2009), resting on Helichrysum conglobatum flowers, in north-central Crete (near the village of Fodele), Greece. Thanks Nikita! I always thought that Scathophaga stercoraria was more yellowish (and a bit bigger, too). I stand corrected
