A small fly (about 9 mm) in my garden in the Nethterlands. Family: Tachinidae I think.
What could it be?

Kind regards,
Thijs

Size is not very important in parasitoids - their size as adults depends largely on the health of their larval hosts Wink

Phorocera obscura is notorious in this respect: size 4 - 12 mm.

Could it also be a feature of Spring species - perhaps exagerated by the variable climate? I have noticed Lypha dubia to be quite variable in size too.
