yesterday i saw many of this flies mating or sitting on trees in a forest near rotterdam does anyone know genusname or maybe speciesname uwe uwe attached the following image:  [144.01Kb] |

Hi uwe. I think this is Ctenophora flaveolata of Tipulidae, not Ptychopteridae. You can see key to species and nice pictures and drawings of this group in Oosterbroek (2006)( Entomologische Berichten 66 (5): 138-149). Edited by dhalma on 15-04-2009 01:41 |
