Hi, I hope that this female Odinia sp. be identified? I ran it through the key in Bei-Bienko and it came out as O. boletina, but it seems as if these keys are not very reliable. Sweden, Ångermanland. Långed, Koåsen Old growth pine forest surrounding a mire N 63º 37.772' E 019º 43.197' 16/7 - 2/8 2008 Window trap Leg. AN Nilsson       Cheers, Viktor |

This is the species I have called Odinia ornata (Zett., 1838), mostly on the basis of Krivosheina's description of the species. O. rossi MacGowan & Rotheray, 2004 may be a younger synonym of O. ornata - if it is a distinct species, I dont know how to tell the two species apart. O. boletina is a smaller animal without clearly darkened crossveins. Kahis |

I have found this species on dead spruce at several locations and Krivosheina (1981) has reared it from larvae found under spruce bark.

Thank you so much. Evidently this is the first Swedish record since the period between 1950-1974, and the list of records from the northern half of the country is short: Zetterstedt collected it inLycksele and Wojmsjön 1838 and more recently it has been collected in Hälsingland sometimes between 1950-1974.
