hi flyforum, This afternoon I found a nice Ernestia sp. in the Amsterdam forest. I was thinking of Ernestia puparum? male? If it is E. puparum,it is a nice found, so in the north of the Netherlands? It certainly would be my guess from the overall appearance and time of year ... but let's wait for Theo ![]() In mainland Europe you are very lucky to be able to see such a superb fly. Here they occur in very low densities and I would class them as quite rare and very difficult to go out and see. This is partly due to the rarity of suitable habitat and also th bad weather at this time of year, which means that few people are out looking for them.
