Conopidae - Myopa strandi ?

Can somebody refute or confirm this is Myopa strandi ? It was caught 5-april-2009 near Leuven (Belgium). Thanks, Joris

I don't know strandi, but this one is not normal. The wing reminds me of polystigma, however, the thorax is clearly reddish. So it might be something special,.... Theo |

There are good reasons for hirsuta (=strandi auct.) as the long hairs, the orangebrown posterior mesoscutum, the wing colouration. To be sure I have to check the specimen. There is a revision of the testacea group with a new key published in Zootaxa. If anyone is interested in it I can send a pdf. Jens-Hermann |
