hi flyforum, A small Tachinidae sp. on the bridge. place Amsterdam forest. size: 5-6mm Any idea about the species? Lypha dubia seems to be quite common evereywherer nowadays.

alright.., this fly was some mm bigger, about ~8mm

Looking againg to my pictures, I am considering it could be still Lypha dubia... Let's put these other pictures (these are not the same fly, but the same area and day). The flies beneath are also Lypha dubia... The middle one, however, is Phorocera obscura. Look at the abdomen, very elongated (for a Tachinidae). Lypha dubia is opposite: very short and rounded. Theo |
