Hi, I have hundreds of pinned Muscidae and Anthomyiidae waiting fo ID. I try little by little get some touch with them, so I will send here maybe too many pictures. If so, please let me know ok ? I think this could be a member of Phaonia Frown 9.5.2008 Helsinki, Finland.

There is hope if some details are visible : how many post dc ? presence of prestut. acr ?
At first glance, it looks like Phaonia serva...

No, Joke, Phaonia is correct, one of the group with proturding mouthedge and long proboscis.
My vote rather for Ph.alpicola than Ph.serva, but it isn't ID, but rather advice to Jari what he should check first.

Ok, I must go on with my Muscidae detective job Smile Some Phaonia alpicola has been found only from the very Northest part of Finland. Phaonia serva should have 1-3 presutural ac; this one has not. I tried to follow my key and ended to a wild quess Frown How abouth Phaonia consobrina ?

Jari, I think I can see 1 pair of prst ac, badly visible on black background. Are you sure it hasn't?

Well, the fly is still under my microscope and I really cant's see them. Just normal short hairs but no ac setae at all. Shock
