Hi,
This syrphid from 30 May 2008 is difficult for me (I wished I had a pic of the face.) It recalls Dasysyrphus albostriatus; however, the specimens in my collection have a much darker thorax with very clear white stripes, and the lower yellow abdomen marks meet in the middle. So I am a bit puzzled. Can you help me?
Thanks, Sundew

I think it's a female Parasyrphus puctulatus!
