Hello, is this 6-7mm tephritid from july in austria Xyphosia miliaria? It seemed to be very interested on this Centaurea-bud, but I always thought they like Cirsium and perhaps Arctium. That does not mean, they are breeding at it. Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Tephritid females sometimes observe different plants for a suitable oviposition substrate, but normally they do it for feeding, like honey dew (Centaurea scabiosa in this instance) or open nectaria (on Daucus carota)
