Wouldn't be the first time you were right either  I use to call these flies O. florum too, and that's what they turn out to be most of the time (when viewed on my computer). This one struck me as too dark for O. florum. Could be O. germinationis. I don't know if some lack the narrow V-shaped mark on top of thorax. |

Once I had a very dark one, too, and nevertheless it was identified as O. florum (see http://www.dipter...ad_id=9063). So let's wait for Jan Willem. |

A very strangely coloured specimen. The specimens of Opomyza germinationis I've seen sofar always have a distinct dark band along the costal vein. There seems to be a vague band along the costal vein. I don't know what to make of this band. Since the rest of the wing markings are very distinct, I'm inclined to say that this is not O. germinationis. However if this is a specimen of O. florum, it certainly is an aberrantly coloured one. I've seen strangly coloured specimens of O. florum before though. I suppose you have not collected this specimen!? I have to look for other characters to distinguish the two species.
