Hello,

this 5-6mm fly is from july in the austrian alps. My guess for the family was Muscidae, and the most similar species I found in the gallery was Thricops nigrifrons.

The picture is not the best, but can anything be said about this fly?

Thanks,
Michael

It could be Thricops cunctans (I think I can guess the typical inner apical spur on hind tibia). No other picture ?
No certitude for the moment, could be even another genus.
Stephane.

Hello,

this is the only other picture I have. The hind legs are a little bit better visible, but still not very well. Is there the spur? I can't see it.

Thanks,
Michael

OK, the former hidden part of hind tibia chaetotxy is now visible (2 lond pd, dense ventral hairs) and leave no doubt that it is Thricops cunctans.
