Small fly (2 to 3mm) that is frequently found on Senecio minimus plants in Wellington, New Zealand. Photo taken in September (early spring). [strike]I have no clue to what this fly is, but[/strike] it looks distinctive and the wing vein detail is almost discernable! Where do I start :-)

If the fly has a subscutellum (a small bulge under the scutellum between it and the part where the abdomen joins the thorax) then it is a tachinid I don't think it is necessarily an import - there are probably plenty of NZ tachinids that look like that Unfortunately it is way outside the regions I can cover  |
