Hello,

Here is a fly photographied last July at the Carbonneau's March at Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

The camouflage was very good as you can see on the second picture with this fly resting on this reed.

I have no idea about the family/genus/species of this fly.

Someone can help me about the id???

Thank you very much in advance!

It is Sciomyzidae, genus Sepedon. There are a lot of species of Sepedon in Nearctic, I don't think that species level is possible with only these images.

Hello Nikita,

You mentionned it is a female. Is it because there is a gap between the eyes like the Syrphidae?

Thank you,

Michel
