Hello,

Here is a picture of what I think is a female Tachinidae fly. Am I wrong? If not, which species???

Pictures took at Sherbrooke, Quebec, near Vermont USA last July.

Thank you again for your appreciated help

Phasinae but not Phasia sp. - the body segments look fused, which would hint at something more related to Gymnosoma or Cistogaster ... but I think it is neither Smile If you have a specimen I can run it though the keys Smile

Phasiinae yes, Phasia no.

In our universe this would be a female Cistogaster.
Need to check if this genus is also present in your universe.

I don't see Cistogaster in the Nearctic key but there is Gymnosoma and other genera like Gymnoclytia (which would be my uneducated guess).

Yes, it is Gymnoclytia, in Coquillett 1897 as.... Cistogaster.

Hello all,

Thank you very much for your great help!!! After looking at different answers from different forums and searching through images, I come to the conclusion that it is a Tachinid of the Genus Gymnosoma.

So it is Gymnosoma sp.

There are only 6 species of Gymnoclytia in Neartic and none of the images I saw correspond to mine.

Thanks again!

Michel
