This wasn't taken by me but was on our local website as unknown fly...just wondered if anyone can put a name to it...Photo by C. Hughson.

This looks like Calobata petronella
Family Micropezidae
But, as you know, better wait for comfirmation or correction from experts.

Thanks for that Lars, it does seem to match up to the photo in the Gallery, down to the brown patch with black surround on the (shoulder of ?) Thorax.
Excuse my terminology Frown. It probably has a correct name.

I was going to suggest Heleomyzidae Tephrochlamys rufiventris, glad I didn't.
