may I ask for classification help.

A big swarm of insects black and white. Very tiny.
Could it be something like Stratiomyidae???

The image needs to be smaller than 200 kb, max. 600x600 pixel, and the name should not contain special characters (for example space). Try to reattach it in the right format.

The abdominal pattern looks much more like N. uliginosus, but N. pantherinus is a very variable species, and I'm not sure what forms it may take in the Mediterranean. A good lateral view would help to decide.
