Hi

I went to Buçaco mountain in 2008.08.09 (9 Sep 2008) and I saw this extremely interesting fly. It has only 2 mm. I only have this photo. And I
didn't catch the specimen. At first time, I was thinking about Diastatidae... One curious thing is that this fly move their forelegs as it was an ephydrid like Ochthera! I wrote to my friend Stéphane who told this is really an unusual fly and told me that this could be around Coenosia.

wow! Grin How this could turn a tachinid!? Shock Unbeliavable! Spectacular! Maybe the observations of Klaas can confirm mines. This fly behaves in an unusual way: it waits a lot of time and rarely flies. It moves a lot the first pair of legs. The pose is very caracteristic, all body plan made a 45º with the plan of the table.
And yep, I remember that tip! Acute ones and pincer like.
This fly was found in a densed florest with big arboreal ferns, big Quercus, etc etc it has a richness of flora. Indeed the most diverse flora in POrtugal resides in Buçaco with impressive trees. Cinochira atra!!!
