Pictured in Sanzoles (Zamora) Spain at abt 700 mts., July 2007.-
Size about 8 mm., in small forest (Populus alba) in chalky hills.-

Very nice fly. This is a male Melanosoma bicolor.

Melanosoma!! Finally I see a decent photo! I have no idea with the appearance of Melanosoma. The proboscis is similar in some way with D. punctata.
