May is fine for T autumnalis. I've recorded them in May and your specimen looks like T autumnalis to me.

By the way Klaas, since you appear to be living in the Wieden_area: be end of April - beginning of May on the lookout for Hybomitra. Those are likely to be H. lurida, very early species (to Tabanidae-standards, that is). Theo |
